Open Bulk Editor docs

Getting started

Install Open Bulk Editor, connect a Shopify store, preview a small task, run selected rows, and review local backup and results.

1. Install and open the desktop app

Download the verified Windows installer from the link provided after purchase. Open the installer, follow the normal Windows installation wizard, then launch Open Bulk Editor from the Start menu or desktop shortcut. No command line or separate Python installation is required.

Enter the license key from your purchase email when you are ready to activate write features.

2. Connect a store

Enter the your-store.myshopify.com domain and either an Admin API Token or Client ID plus Client Secret. Save the store, then test the connection.

3. Load locations if inventory is involved

Inventory actions require a Shopify location. Load the location list and choose the exact location before previewing the task.

4. Build a small task

Choose a narrow scope, add filters, then add one or more actions. For a first run, set a low maximum product count and avoid permanent deletion.

5. Scan and review

Open Bulk Editor reads the required data and creates a preview. Check the product, variant, old value, new value, and row selection. Export the preview if another person needs to review it.

6. Execute selected rows

A write requires an active license. The app checks the preview binding, task snapshot, store, configuration, required scopes, and selection before saving the local backup journal and starting Shopify writes.

7. Check the result

Review successes, failures, skipped rows, and the backup path in Run Log. Retry failed rows only after reading the structured error.

Do not test a new workflow by deleting production products or variants. Permanent deletion cannot be fully reconstructed from a snapshot.
